Onward & Upward Virtual Race Doubles Goals
Pensacola Beach, Fla. (November 21, 2020) – In October, we worked with the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation to promote their first-ever virtual race experience, called the Onward & Upward Virtual Race. The goal of the race was to encourage everyone to get outside, get moving and stay healthy on their own time, while supporting the Museum Foundation. Participants could register online for the 1 mile, 5K or 10K distance, for a $35 registration fee. Registered participants would receive an iconic 4” moving medal featuring an F-14 Tomcat launching from USS Enterprise (CVN 65), in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the F-14 Tomcat, one of the most iconic aircraft in modern Naval Aviation history.

With it being an inaugural run, the Foundation set a goal of 250 participants for the month. EW Bullock was tasked with raising awareness and publicity for this event using strictly public relations and word of mouth. A press release specifically targeting fitness, marathon and running publications and bloggers, as well as aviation and military publications throughout the country delivered some fantastic results.

On its opening day for registration, October 1st, the virtual race had more than 100 registrants, ranging from coast to coast. And we’re happy to report that the Foundation ended up doubling its goal for the month and selling out, capping the medal count at 500.
