September 15, 2016 –Pensacola Beach, Fl— “Who let the Danes out?” Get ready for some food, live music, vendors, auctions, raffles, craft beer – all with a side of dog slobber – as Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue (NWFLGDR) presents its inaugural Dane-Toberfest celebration and fundraising event on Sunday, Oct. 9, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Pensacola Bay Brewery and Fountain Park in Downtown Pensacola.
Dane-Toberfest 2016 is a DOG-FRIENDLY event! That’s right, you can bring your dog(s)! We just ask that all dogs be friendly and up-to-date on vaccinations. No retractable leashes please.
This year’s festival theme is “A Home for Every Dane.” Nearly two dozen adoptable Great Danes will be on site to greet festival-goers — and happily receive treats and affection in return (hint hint), while local singer and songwriter Christina Alconcel serenades the crowds.
Fifteen vendors will have tents set up selling their crafts – including everything from customized jewelry to handwoven baskets to handcrafted candles and soaps to gourmet dog treats – and everything in between. In addition, facepainting will be available for the kiddos and a photo booth will be set up for people to snap pictures with their furry best friends.
NWFLGDR is raffling off four major prizes. For $5 a ticket or six tickets for $20, you can enter to win:
· 4 – Disneyworld Single Day Park Hopper passes (a value of $600)
· 4 – Sea World Single Day passes (a value of $$500)
· 4 – Sea World Aquatica passes (a value of $350)
· 4 – Southwest Airlines one-way tickets (a value of $800)
In addition, door prizes will be given away every half hour and a silent auction will be held during the event. The auction winners will be announced at the end of the event at 5 p.m.
Hip Pocket Deli Food Truck will be on site, offering everything from gyros to subs to their to-die-for Greek desserts. Kona Ice of Gulf Breeze will be serving up shaved ice cups with more than 40 unique flavors and hundreds of possible combinations.
The goal for this event is to bring attention to the many incredible Danes currently available for adoption; to increase awareness about the benefits of adopting and fostering; to emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering pets; and to help raise $5,000 for the rescue to be used for veterinary expenses, medical supplies, food and general care expenses incurred for the 20 Great Danes in the rescue’s care as of September.
NWFLGDR hopes this event will become a long-standing annual event where the public can come out and support the rescue’s cause and where prospective dog owners or prospective fosters can meet and learn more about the breed.
